What this calculator compares

The calculator places each entered time against the published 2025–26 roster times for the same event. It then rolls those school-level comparisons into four college swimming groups: D1 Power 4, D1 Mid-Major, D2, and D3.

Choose women’s or men’s swimming and enter up to three supported events and times. The event list covers 14 college events, including the 50 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Breast, and 400 IM. Each time is compared only with the same event.

The result is a division-level view of current roster depth. The same 100 Fly can land differently across the four groups because college rosters do not all have the same range of times.

What the result cannot tell you

Treat the result as a snapshot of current roster depth. It is not a coach-issued recruiting cutoff, a promise that a swimmer will be recruited or earn a roster spot, or a forecast of future improvement.

Rosters and team needs change. Use the comparison to decide which levels deserve a closer look, then ask coaches directly about their current event and class needs.

The calculator gives you a broad roster reference. These pages help you move from that first read to event, age, school, and methodology detail.

College swim fit calculator: common questions

What does the college swim fit calculator compare?

It compares each entered time with published college roster times for the same gender and event, then summarizes where the time lands across D1 Power 4, D1 Mid-Major, D2, and D3.

Which divisions and events are covered?

The calculator covers D1 Power 4, D1 Mid-Major, D2, and D3. You can enter up to three times from 14 supported events, from the 50 Free through the 1650 Free and the standard stroke and individual medley events.

Is this the time a coach requires?

No. The result is a roster reference. It is not a coach-issued recruiting cutoff, a promise of recruitment or a roster spot, or a forecast of future improvement. Ask coaches about their current event and class needs.

How current is the roster data?

The calculator uses published roster times from the 2025–26 season. On The Board refreshes roster benchmarks after fall roster updates so the comparison follows the current roster snapshot.
