Two Winter Juniors breaststroke wins and a 1:56.13 in the 200 IM put Tan’s range in view.

Mikayla Tan is headed to Stanford for fall 2028. The San Ramon Valley Aquatics swimmer has verbally committed to the Cardinal after a year in which her breaststroke results kept drawing attention well beyond the Bay Area.
At 2025 Winter Juniors West, Tan won both breaststroke races in short course yards: 59.04 in the 100 and 2:06.74 in the 200. The longer swim broke the meet record. She also finished second in the 200 IM at 1:56.13. It is a rare three-event set to bring into a college commitment announcement.
Her summer racing reached an international stage. Representing Singapore at the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, she finished third in the 100-meter breast, fourth in the 50, and seventh in the 200. The meter results tell a separate part of her season; the yard times are the ones we used for the roster comparison below.
Those three yard times put Stanford at #2 in our full retrospective Match list, in the Strong group. Her 200 breast fell in Stanford’s Scorer range, with the 100 breast and 200 IM in its Contributor range.
For this look back, we entered the published short course yard times on October 22, 2026 against the 2025–26 roster snapshot.
