Michael Wang of Irvine, California, has announced a verbal commitment to Princeton’s admission process for 2028–29. He swims for Irvine Novaquatics and Northwood High School, with a freestyle range that runs from the 50 through the 200.
As a sophomore at the California state meet, Wang finished sixth in the 100 free and fourth in the 200 free. His current short course yard bests are 20.79 in the 50 free, 44.40 in the 100, and 1:37.17 in the 200. All three were part of our roster comparison.
A Princeton coach can support a recruit through admission, but the university’s admission office makes the decision. The verbal announcement tells us his chosen school; the times let us look at the swim side of that choice.
In a separate comparison of seven Division I schools outside the Power Four, where a time lined up with the middle of a roster’s recorded swims, Princeton was 1st. His 50 free led that comparison; the place applies to this group.
For this look back, we entered the published short course yard times on October 25, 2026 against the 2025–26 roster snapshot.
