Two Indiana state sprint titles and a 20.03 in the 50 free put the hometown commitment in focus.

Peter Kovacs will not have far to go when he starts college swimming in fall 2028. The Bloomington South High School swimmer has verbally committed to Indiana, the university in his hometown. He trains with Indiana Swim Club.
Kovacs won both sprint freestyle races at the 2026 Indiana high school state meet. He swam 43.79 to win the 100 free and had already set his 50 free best of 20.03 in prelims before winning the final. He also went 1:36.12 in the 200 free at Winter Juniors East.
The 50 and 100 free give Indiana two clear individual races to watch, and the 200 adds a longer freestyle swim. We entered all three yard times to see how they compare with the current Hoosiers roster.
Indiana was 9th among the schools Match returned for those times. His 50 and 100 free both reached ranges represented on the current Hoosiers roster; the 200 free gave us a third race to compare.
For this look back, we entered the published short course yard times on October 25, 2026 against the 2025–26 roster snapshot.
